Precautions / Side Effects for Advair Diskus
Advair Diskus should not be taken if you are allergic to Fluticasone and Salmeterol. Advair Diskus drug is also not meant for you if you react adversely to milk proteins. Other conditions where brand or generic Advair Diskus should not be taken are if you have an asthma attack (like sudden and severe symptoms of asthma such as cough, chest tightness, wheezing and shortness of breath), you use another kind of long-acting inhaled bronchodilator (like salmeterol inhalation powder and formoterol inhalation powder) , you take an azole antifungal (like ketoconazole), some HIV protease inhibitors (like ritonavir), any macrolide antibiotic (like clarithromycin), telithromycin or nefazodone.
You should not take this drug without consultation in case you are breast-feeding. Also, consult your doctor before taking brand or generic Advair Diskus if you are pregnant or planning to. Tell your doctor about all the other medications that you are currently taking including over-the-counter medications like herbal products and other dietary supplements. This is because some medicines may interact with Advair Diskus (Fluticasone/Salmeterol) and cause harmful effects.
Advair Diskus Dosage
You should take Advair Diskus 2 times a day orally. You should rinse your mouth with water after intake of the medicine. You should not use additional long-acting beta2-agonists if you are taking Advair Diskus. For adults and children above the age of 12 years, the recommended dosage is one inhalation to be taken twice daily at an interval of 12 hours (that is once in the morning and once in the evening). The recommended dosage of this medicine for patients who are not currently on inhaled corticosteroids is 100/50 or 250/50 to be taken twice every day.
